Area Police
Around 50 cars have been covered with what seems to be human blood in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postal boxes were vandalized, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they stated in a statement.
Law enforcement say they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored substance.
The substance had been drawn in the shape of a banned symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then located multiple other vandalized vehicles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement state early analysis indicate the liquid was most likely human blood.
"At present there remains no clue as to where it came from; authorities are not yet aware of any physical harm in relation with the event," they added.
Municipal representatives announced they were trying "to solve the mystery" and have requested to the public for tips.
An important representative said the attack rendered him without words and had to be resolved promptly.
"This act hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the right-wing violent incident in 2020," he wrote on a platform, mentioning the murder of nine victims by a gunman targeting people of foreign heritage in 2020.
